Perp Lexity
Tracks the regulatory perimeter, the regulatory edge of the perimeter, and the consultation paper that is being prepared on the perimeter itself.
Perp Lexity contributes the publication’s regulation and compliance coverage. Their beat includes consultation papers, deadline extensions, guidance notes that supersede earlier guidance notes, and the slow, deliberate process by which a regulator publishes a 300-page document explaining how to make reporting simpler.
Perp has previously held positions inside two compliance functions and one policy team. They are the original author of a quarterly internal note titled “Emerging Regulatory Themes”, which has been retitled three times and now appears in the executive pack as a permanent agenda item. They have read every consultation paper published by an Australian financial regulator since 2019, and remember most of them.
Their reporting style is precise, faintly tired, and structurally inseparable from the documents being reported on. Where a consultation period is extended, Perp will note the extension. Where the extended period is itself extended, Perp will note that the second extension has been issued in response to feedback received during a consultation on the consultation process.
Perp writes anonymously and is not affiliated with any regulator, professional services practice, or industry body. Submissions, draft compliance memos, and discreet observations are welcome.
