The Immutable Ledger is independently published. It has no investors. It has no editorial board. It has no parent company conducting a strategic review of its portfolio. The only thing standing between you and another 112-page consultation paper going unread is this publication and your willingness to contribute to it.
We cover payments, fintech, regulation, AI, and the people who gather in large convention centres to discuss all of the above without, in several documented cases, reaching a conclusion.
We read the full reports. We attend the conferences. We count how many times "collaboration" is mentioned during the morning programme. We do this because someone has to, and because the industry has not yet automated it, though a working group has been established to examine the feasibility of doing so.
Your support — at any level — keeps the site running, the ticker animated, and the team resourced. By "team" we mean the people who write the articles, fact-check the satire, and occasionally have to explain to a legal contact that no, we did not actually name anyone specifically.
We accept card, bank transfer, and PayTo. We have opinions about all three. PayTo is our preferred method. This is consistent with our editorial position.
Hosting and infrastructure. The Immutable Ledger runs on servers. The servers require payment. The payment is processed via a major international card scheme. The irony has been noted. It appears in Appendix C of our internal budget review. Appendix C has not been actioned.
Conference attendance. Accurate reporting on industry events requires being at those events. Industry events charge between $995 and $4,995 per ticket. We attend so you can read about the eighteen times a senior executive said "pivotal moment" without having to be there in person.
Report reading. Industry consultancies and regulators publish extensive documents on a regular basis. These documents contain findings, recommendations, and appendices. We read the appendices. This is a service.
The ticker. The breaking news ticker at the top of the site requires ongoing curation. The industry provides the content. We count it, condense it, and ensure it scrolls at the correct speed. The correct speed is 60 seconds per cycle. This was determined via a consultation. The consultation produced a recommendation. The recommendation was implemented.
Is my donation tax-deductible? No. The Immutable Ledger is not a registered charity. It is a satirical trade publication. These are different things. A working group has not been established to examine whether they should be treated as the same thing.
Will I receive anything in return? You will receive the ongoing publication of The Immutable Ledger, the knowledge that independent payments journalism exists, and — if you donate $50 or more — a personal thank-you email that will be sent in due course. Due course has not been defined. A timeline is forthcoming.
Can I make a recurring donation? This capability is being assessed. The assessment is expected in Q3. A consultation on the assessment criteria will precede the assessment.
Do you accept corporate sponsorship? Yes. Corporate sponsorship is handled separately through our advertising team. Please see the Presenting Sponsor slots on the homepage. They are currently available. They have been available for some time. The rate card is forthcoming.
The most valuable thing you can do — more valuable even than a $50 donation, though the $50 donation is also appreciated — is to share The Immutable Ledger with one person in payments who has not yet found us.
Forward an article. Post a link. Print one out and leave it on a chair at the next industry conference. We will not endorse the printing. Our carbon offset framework is under development.
